Please suggest what we can do in 3 days with a 3 year old

Hi everyone,

We are reaching Zurich this Friday evening from London at 5.30 pm and then travelling to our hotel in Winderswil. So we have Saturday, Sunday and our return flight from zurich is at 5.20 pm. Please suggest what we can do in the time we have with a 3 year old who badly wants to see snow :)

Is it worth getting a swiss travel pass 3 day one or better to buy individual tickets, not sure if travel to winderswil is covered in the swiss pass. Please suggest..

Thanks,
Silpa.

On one of the days I would go to Mürren and go up the Schilthorn if the weather is nice. There is very little snow at present but still some, you can check the webcams on Mürren's website.

There is an open air museum nearby in Ballenberg. It has lots of traditional Swiss structures, farm animals, etc. Entry fee would be covered by the Swiss Pass.

If you choose Murren area, drop by Gimmelwald. It's charming and you would likely see farm animals. If you haven't heard of Gimmelwald, it is a charming tiny village where the people farm and make cheese. It is surrounded by mountains which seem so close that you feel like you could reach out and touch them. There is a playground by the gondola stop, too.

We used a Swiss Travel Pass, but we were in Switzerland for a week. Schilthorn used to be half off and then free with the travel pass, but I have no idea if it still is.

Ballenberg is closed for the winter, so unfortunately not open during your visit.
Also, quite a few of the places to visit in the mountains are between seasons and not open for the winter yet (I believe this includes Schilthorn). They use this time to do maintenance work and prepare for ski season. You can ask at the tourist office in Interlaken about your options.
It's a bit early for snow in the towns, but you might get lucky over the weekend and see some in Mürren or one of the villages at a higher elevation.
If your child likes animals, there is an animal park in Brienz that is free. Or if you go up to Harder Kulm in Interlaken (nice views), there is a small (also free) park with some ibex just by the funicular station.
