My fiancé and I arrive in Zurich early in the morning in May and plan to stay a night before heading to our next destination. Any suggestions on areas to stay? We plan to mostly do airbnbs. I prefer to stay away from tourist trap areas. We like hot new trendy areas with shopping, bars, and good eats!

Why don't you go ahead and start your journey if you're arriving in the morning? Zurich is not in the mountains, as it's just a big business city. They roll up the sidewalks at dark.

West Zurich is the trendy area. But other posts have said your trip is rather short, so that would be a reason to move right on to Luzern.
