Photography and walking tour Switzerland

we four sixty year old photographer friends(men) are planning a tour by rented car. We are reasonably physically fit.
Our tour is between 21st May 2015 to 3rd June.
ZurichAirport to Zurich Airport.
Places to be covered are Lucern, Lauterbrunnen, LAVAUX region, Ascona for Aletsch glacier, Bad Ragaz
We want to stay in hostels to save cost.
Please suggest us spots around these town where we can take cable car for taking walks for photography.
please also suggest names of cheap hostels. Is there facility of taking a Pass for cable cars and funicular?

There's a Hostel in Lauterbrunnen or you could stay at the Mountain Hostel in Gimmelwald (Lauterbrunnen would be a better choice as it's more central). From there you can take the BLM Cable Car & mountain train to Mürren, or take the Post Bus to Stechelberg and then the four cable car segments to the Schilthorn. If you want to explore the other side of the valley (Wengen, Grindelwald, Kleine Scheidegg, Jungfraujoch), take the cog wheel train up from Lauterbrunnen.

It's difficult to suggest the "best" Pass for Switzerland, as there are many choices, and it would take some number crunching to get some idea. You may find it helpful to have a look at Rick's Switzerland Rail Pass info. There are also regional passes for the Berner Oberland and Jungfrau so it would take some time to determine which will be best for the specific sights you plan to visit. A Swiss half-fare card may be the best option.
