Hi there!
Do you give a tip if one orders a dinner there? The dinner is 30 CHF. They are making a special vegetarian meal which I booked ahead of time.
Also, does one need insect repellent? Leaving at the end of the week.

Was there just about this time last year. No issue with bugs so never used a repellent. Everything is expensive in Switzerland but I had a huge, delicious pizza at the pension. Much more convenient than the hike up to Murren. If you do I recommend Edelweiss.

Why would hike "up" to Murren?? The gondola whisks you there in about 5 minutes. Then you can "stroll" back down if you want.
Tipping in Switzerland is just a matter of leaving a franc or 2 if you want. It's certainly not expected. By no means do you leave the standard American 15-20%

I was in Gimmewald a bit more than a year ago. LOVED it. I'd love to go back in the summer and wondered about staying in Pension Gimmelwald. I hope you do a trip report.
