Planning to travel to Switzerland with family -- We want to spend most of our time in Switzerland, but our teenage children want to find a way to enter the surrounding countries and obtain a 'stamp' in their passport books (preferably in as short of a time as possible). Suggestions as to the best places to accomplish this?
The borders with surrounding countries are open so no border checks/immigration control. I wouldn’t waste my precious (not to mention expensive time in Switzerland) looking for a place to get a passport stamp.
To get your passport 'stamped' you would have to go outside the Schengen area.
As you can see from the map, there is nothing really close by
Agree, not possible. Switzerland and all surrounding countries are part of the Schengen Area, which is a "Passport Union". Passports are checked (and if necessary stamped) only on entry to and exit from the Schengen Area. You can drive, take a train/bus/tram or walk across the Swiss border without having your passport checked.
Thanks -- this info has been very helpful!
I understand you can get a stamp at the Liechtenstein Tourist Office in Vaduz if you pay 5 CHF per passport. Seems like a waste of time to me, but people do stranger things to please their children.

We had our passport stamped for free in Liechtenstein. Sometimes it just depends on who is working that day, but I counted that as a huge plus for my passport.
