I'm planning to park a rental car in the Lauterbrunnen car park for a couple of nights at the end of July. Is it necessary to reserve a parking spot in advance? I keep finding links online to do so. However, when I click on the link, I get a message that the page is no longer available. Any advice?

I've never reserved a space there. I just drive in, take a ticket, and keep going up until I find a space. Watch out for spaces which have a car number plate or number plate information on the wall or chain. Those are for long term residents and their private spaces. not available for the general public.
The reservation bit is tricky. You have to specify beginning and dates, but also times, and the reservation is non-changeable and non refundable. It is really for the ski season when the place is over-run. Much more crowded than summer, and people want the car under cover.
You might be unlucky in the summer but I never have been.
