Paris to Interlaken: Through Montreux or Basel ?

Hi,

I will be travelling by train from Paris to Lauterbrunnen this summer, and there are 2 ways how we can reach Interlaken. One is direct train from Paris to Interlaken( through basel or bern). Second would be Paris to Montreux (through Geneva), and from there take scenic Golden express train to Interlaken. First one would save us some time which will help in recharging for our rest of the trip of Switzerland. Second route, is lengthier and enable us to see the much popular Golden express path. Which would be ideal way to do ? Is Montreux to Interlaken route of Golden express really so good that we should spend extra hours for it? Please advice.

Note: We will be staying in Lauterbrunnen 5 days, and doing Jungfrau, schilthorn, männlichen to kleine scheidegg hike, murren, gimmelwald village strolling.

There is also a routes through Lausanne which is shorter (at least by distance).
I think that there is so much mountain scenery in the Berner Oberland, that taking extra time to go the Golden Pass route would be gilding the lily so to speak.
