Paris to Grimmelwald to Luzern then heading to Prague....

Hello - Trying to figure out the best way to travel from Paris to Grimmelwald. Fly? Or Train? If flying, best into Basel, then train on?
If we travel by train, what is the best route? Then from Grimmelwald to Luzern? I am having a 'challenge in finding the best way to travel this route. From Luzern, is it possible to fly to Prague, or do we have to go through Zurich? Thank you all for your feedback

Do you mean Gimmelwald or Grindelwald? Check the spelling of where you are wanting to go and update your post. There is no Grimmelwald.

From Paris, there are high speed TGV Lyria trains to Basel 4 times a day and it takes 3 hours. From central Paris it would take you that long just to get to the airport and check in and take off, so the train is the way to go.

Go to www.sbb.ch/en and put in from Paris Gare de Lyon to Gimmelwald. It will shoe you all the options.

Probably best to fly to Prague from Zurich. 3 flights a day and it takes 1 1/4 hours flight time. You can go from Gimmelwald to Zurich airport with the SBB site again. Destination is Zurich Flughafen.

Paris to Gimmelwald (note spelling) is 6.5 to 7 hours by train. It takes 3 or 4 trains (can be via Basel or Geneva) a bus, and a gondola. I know it sounds confusing and arduous, but in reality it is quite easy thanks to the Swiss efficiency. You depart Paris Est or Paris Gare de Lyon and make easy transfers.

Would flying be faster? I doubt it. You would have to get to the airport, go through security, wait, fly, get the Geneva and still take 2 or 3 trains, a bus, and a gondola.

You can look at all schedule options at www.SBB.ch/en. A very handy site to become familiar with. Use it to look at Gimmelwald to Luzern, too.

For Prague, you would fly from Zurich which is only an hour from Luzern by train.
