Traveling to Paris on september11 and plan to stay for 5 days and taking train to Colmar for 2 nights. Then a train to Lauterbrunnen. We have to be back Paris in 5 days(nights) and on our return to Paris will have one full day and two nights. Trying to figure out the best way to utilize those 5 days. I am not big hiker but sure like the Beaty. Suggestions welcome. Is Neuchâtel worth a night or 2
Even non-hikers will find a lot of interest in the Lauterbrunnen Valley. We've been going nearly every year. We like to hike, but nothing technical or difficult. Does a 2-3 mile walk in the mountains on a groomed path appeal to you? There are many such walks here! Plus cogwheel trains, gondolas, and a funicular all leading the fabulous views and those walks. You can go to the Jungfraujoch, the “Top of Europe” passing through the Eiger or to the Schilthorn and Piz Gloria for magnificent views. Spend the 5 nights in Lauterbrunnen as a centerpiece to your trip instead of hopping around more. Of all the paces we have been in Switzerland, this is our favorite. We keep trying new places but return over-and-over to Lauterbrunnen.
Thank you for the insight. Do you know anything about the town Neuchâtel? We were hoping to avoid a five hour train ride back to Paris and Thinking a night or two there might be a good way to break it up
Cityalps, I would give Neuchâtel ½ to 1 day. Nice lakeside town, but not "first division".
If you are looking to break your journey back to Paris for 1-2 nights I would suggest Basel, or perhaps Dijon.
Or, if you want to add distance, Lyon.
BTW, your profile says you are from "Paris Switzerland". Really ☺?
