Paring down options from Visp and Brig

So, this is a continuation of my previous post, only we're moving on to the Visp/Brig area (we're still deciding between the two).

As before, I've planned and researched for more options than we have days. This time it is six days/nights and ten options. Obviously since weather is an issue, I'm keeping everything in the back pocket. BUT, if you truly had to pick only a few from the list, what would they be? Or are there options that I've completely overlooked? FYI, this will be mid-April, two fit (-ish) adults in our 60s, and we will have Swiss Travel Passes. Also, we are repeat travelers to Switzerland who have visited a lot of the major sites like Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen already, so the below intentionally mixes in some ideas that might be more off-the-beaten-path (not counting Zermatt!).

  1. Zermatt and the Gornergrat scenic cogwheel train for (hopefully) views of the Matterhorn. (I know this is a longshot in April)
  2. Martigny, primarily for the Fondation Pierre Gianadda museum and the VerticAlp funicular
  3. Also from Martigny, but it might be a choice between this and the above (??) -- taking The Mont Blanc Express between Martigny and Chamonix, and back
  4. Aigle Castle, now a wine museum
  5. Sion
  6. The Glacier Express route to Disentis/Mustér and back
  7. Glacier viewing from Bettmeralp or Eggishorn
  8. Saas (not to ski, but just to soak up the atmosphere. It may be a moot point if everything has shut down for the season...)
  9. Thun and Lake Thun ferries
  10. Kandersteg and Oeschinensee (if the cable car to Oeschinensee is running)

Is this your first trip to Switzerland? You’ve obviously done a lot of research. Are you intentionally avoiding the Lauterbrunnen/Wengen/ Murren area?

@ travel4fun -- Good question, and I should go back and edit my post to address. But yes, this is our third trip to Switzerland and we have visited the Lauterbrunnen/Wengen/ Murren area before. Thun would be a repeat, but I feel like we missed some things last time. Also, even though it is early season, looking to stay a bit more off the beaten path from the major sites like Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen.

The Matterhorn is far from being a long shot in April! You should totally attempt this.
And I agree that t he Aletsch glacier is impressive.

Is the St Leonard underground lake (Lac Souterrain de Saint-Léonard) worth visiting? It is between Martigny and Visp.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Please keep it coming. And yes, the Lac Souterrain de Saint-Léonard looks really interesting and unique. Hadn't discovered it yet in my research, so thanks for the heads up.
