Paragliding in Lauterbrunnen Valley?

Our family would like to paraglide from Murren to the valley floor. We have had no experience and would need a tandem set up with a qualified guide. Is this possible? We have kids 16 & 18. What reservations are necessary for mid June?

I used Paragliding Jungfrau for this a few years ago. It was a crash-free experience. They have jump points throughout the region including Murren. I called the day before to set it up. It's very weather dependent; they won't jump in certain conditions.

Gary,

Unless you have qualifications and your own gear, a tandem flight with a qualified pilot is the only option possible (AFAIK). You shouldn't have any trouble finding providers in that area, as it's a very popular activity.

Are you staying in Mürren? You could always ask your hotel if they'd be able to arrange that for you. You could also have a look at websites for providers in that area.....

As I recall, the flight from Mürren to the valley floor at Stechelberg is about 20 minutes (give or take a few). The flights launch from a hillside above Mürren, so a short hike is required to get there. There are also flights from the Schilthorn (Elev. 10k feet) which last considerably longer, but they're also considerably more expensive! The pilots often offer an optional series of photos taken with a "selfie stick" during the flight, and it's nice to have a record of the experience. You can also pack along your own camera.

You might want to take out a second mortgage on your house, as it's NOT cheap! Switzerland is generally an expensive country to travel in, so be sure to budget accordingly.
