Hi there taking the train from Amsterdam to Lucerne would you recommend staying near the train station since we only have one night? And if so any recommendations about a nice hotel? Thank you there you go
The train station is well located--I believe I walked less than ten minutes to the apartment I rented, passing many hotels in the five minute walk range--Des Alpes looked nice. Everything quite walkable.
Hi Linda,
This Lucerne hotel is not far from the train station since you are only staying for 1 night. Hotel Des Balances is a 10 minute walk to the train terminal.. The hotel porters will even carry luggage for guests to the train station. The Hotel has a nice view and serves an excellent breakfast.

Good restaurants to eat nearby in the old town are: Old Swiss House, Pfistern, and Wilden Mann Hotel and restaurant.

Linda if you have any question , feel free to message me. I have traveled in Europe for years and very knowledgeable about various European cities.
Have a good trip!
I stayed at Hotel des Alpes prior to the start of the Best of Switzerland tour and found it to be very comfortable and very close to everything. It was a short, easy walk just across the bridge from the train station - check out their website.
Thank you all....this is wonderful information...all I need!
