One night in Zurich

We fly out of Zurich for home on June 5 after a few days in Switzerland (in Murren) at the end of Italy/Switz trip. I prefer to get into Zurich on June 4th rather to take super early train the morning of 5th. I haven't seen much on the forums about things to do or see in Zurich. Should we just book next to airport and arrive there in time to sleep? Or is it worth staying in old center area and sightsee for one evening?

We really enjoy the night we spend in Zurich before flying home. Wander the Oldtown! have a nice dinner rapt a place with outdoor seating! walk down to the lake if you like.

We arrived late in the evening (no sightseeing opportunity) and had maybe til early afternoon or so the next morning before we had to go to the airport. We did the lake cruise (maybe 60-75 min - this was 2010 so memories are vague) and then just basically wandered the old town - which was lovely. Bit of a sticker shock for the street food we got (about $18 for a hot dog and a drink - there could have been fries in there - would cost you about half that here at home). I would say stay in the old town and do some sightseeing - if I recall, getting to the airport was easy and efficient.

I think it's worth one evening to see Zurich. Walking down by the lake is nice, or head up to ETH Zurich (the school there) and there's a nice view over the city. Either way, I would stay in the center for the night - it is a very short train ride (12-15 minutes if I recall correctly) out to the airport from the main train station.
