I am going on the RS tour next September. According to the itinerary, day 9 is in Lausanne and the morning is on your own. Does anyone know how much time is actually available before the afternoon activities are scheduled to begin? I'm looking forward to visiting the Olympic Museum and don't want to cut it short, so if time is limited I plan on going back to Lausanne at the end of the tour so I can take my time at the museum and then spend an extra night in Zurich before I fly home. Thank you!
When I took this tour in 2019, the Olympic Museum was part of the itinerary. I would say we had two hours there and for me it was enough. Interesting exhibits, but I think one would have to be a super sports lover to spend longer than 2 hours.
I agree with Carol, that two hours was plenty of time. I felt the museum was interesting, but rather sterile. But the RS Swiss tour is a great adventure. Enjoy!
Thank you for your responses - this helps a lot. I am a huge figure skating fan so I'd probably spend more time there than the average person. :-)
I emailed RS to find out exactly how much time I would have that morning to tour the Olympic Museum. Turns out there are going to be changes to the schedule and only 1.5 hours will be available for a tour. Since I could probably spend a half hour in the gift shop alone, looks like I’m going to head back to Lausanne after the tour is over and then spend an extra night in Zurich before I head home. Thank you for your help!
Just a note on the museum based on my experience. I was there June 2024. It was packed with kids running around all over the place. So, I did not enjoy this as much as I expected to. If I could have the place to myself, that would be a different story. The giftshop was smaller than I expected and it seemed for all the T-shirts they only had weird sizes, maybe extra small or extra extra large.
Hopefully, you’ll have a different experience.
Enjoy the tour!!
