Old French Franc coins in Switzerland?

Hi -
My mother was in the Zurich airport 5 years ago and received change with old French franc coins rather than CHF.

Are these ever accepted as currency in lieu of CHF in Switzerland or is this now the start of a new antique coin collection for us?

Thanks!

I'm inclined to think this was someone taking advantage of a foreigner!

An old French Franc (it is replaced by the Euro of course) would be worth .14 Swiss Franc. She got scammed.

So I suppose ancient roman coins also aren't good legal tender either....

I'll leave them at home!

Happy travels.

Lucky you. I have a beautiful necklace made by someone in the DC area from an old French coin. But no, even the Banque de France stopped accepting outdated French franc currency about twenty years ago.

Depending on what they are and how much you have, it might be worth looking into their 'collector' value,
