Lugano will be my day of relaxation before I tackle the alps. Any suggestions go good bars to mingle at?

I don't remember too many "good bars" in Lugano, but then again I wasn't really looking. You could check out the Casino as they have bars there. I'd suggest asking the front desk staff at your hotel, as they'll know all the "hot" local watering holes.

I agree that the best scoop will come from residents. Keep eyes and ears open in your wanders earlier in the day.
