We are planning to stay in BO area for 4 nights in late June. Looking at lodging options, the convenience and centraiity of staying near train station in Lauterbrunnen is attractive for getting up to see things in the mountains above. But will it be noisy near the train station at night? Otherwise we would consider Wengen or Murren. Thanks for any insights.
Is the place you’re looking at staying right by the train station in Lauterbrunnen? If so, regardless of noise I wouldn’t want to stay there. It’s quite a congested travel hub these days and lacks the charm of Wengen & Murren.
If you’re concerned about convenience, stay up in Wengen near the train station there. It adds 13 minutes onto your “commute” - not a big deal.
We stayed in Lauterbrunnen……the train was at the foot of the hill that our hotel sat on….the train station in Lauterbrunnen is away from all hotels and was never a problem for us with noise….same for Wengen……the large hotels were up on the hills above the train station in Wengen and not close to the trains….if you were afraid of hearing train noise in Wengen or Lauterbrunnen I would think it would be because you stayed in an apartment or home near the train tracks that bring the train into these stations.
