No more Swiss travel pass flex (15-day) in 2017

I read on another site that starting in 2017 the month long Swiss flex travel pass in which the holder can travel 15 days within a month will no longer be offered. For someone who would be planning a long visit to Switzerland it looks like a great offer, as museums are free as well with it. It was a little under 500 francs for one adult second class. Hopefully they bring something like that back. Now the month long half fare card at 120 francs is probably the way to go for someone who wants to be in Switzerland for a while.

Cutting the 15-day flexi version would not surprise me, since they cut the longer versions of the consecutive-day pass already. They may have some intuition that tourists don't really stay a whole month. With a Swiss Travel Pass flexi, museums are only free on your counted full-coverage days (and mountain discounts are a separate issue). This is about the time that the Swiss tend to plan their year-end changes, so you'll know whether there's a benefit to buying a pass in December versus January. (Swiss Travel Passes are pre-validated for a travel period starting within 6 months of the date of purchase.)
