Night in Bern or extra night in Murren?

Wife and I are currently set for late June/early July:
3 nights Luzerne
4 nights Murren
1 night Bern
1 night Zurich (the night before we fly home).

Should we get rid of the night in Bern and just do a day trip there from Murren (making it five nights in Murren)? I've been to Bern but my wife hasn't. Upside is reducing our packing/unpacking/hotel switching, etc. Downside is we "lose" the time of the return trip back to Murren and we might not get a great "feel" for Bern.

Thoughts?

Thank you!

What time is your return flight? There are direct trains from Bern to Zurich airport at 2 and 31 past the hour and it takes 72 to 80 minutes.

1:15. Thanks for the reminder -- we hadn't considered two nights in Bern. This is another option to consider.

I highly suggest no nights in Bern. I think you'll regret it if it takes time away from murren. For me, a day trip to Bern was sufficient. I loved the mountains so much in comparison.

What Carrie said. Maximize time in Murren, and see Bern on a day when maybe the weather isn't ideal up there. We felt a few hours in Bern was fine.

Do the day trip to Bern from Murren.

Bern is nice town if you just what more dining options or to go to a concert or club late evening, something you won't find in Murren.

For those of you that traveled from Murren to Bern and back for a daytrip, what was the total travel time?

David, the answer to this question is easily found on the SBB app or website. I've done it several times, in both directions, but don't precisely remember the total... the website shows 1:54 or 1:56. In all cases, under 2 hours each way.

That's an integrated trip from Mürren BLM to Grütschalp to Lauterbrunnen (cable car) to Interlaken Ost to Bern. The 2 minute slower trip also includes a 3 minute cross platform change at Spiez.
