Nervous train planning 2

My wife and I need to get from Interlaken West to Milano Central on October 7th. We have purchased 3 day Swiss Travel Passes (STP) good Oct 5-7. Will the STP be sufficient for us to board trains to Chiasso without reservations?
Trenitalia shows tickets can't be purchased that day from Interlaken or Speiz to Milano Central. However, I can buy tickets from Chiasso to Milano Central. I have asked for help on the SBB site and haven't gotten any response. Any advice?

I just looked on www.sbb.ch/en and you can leave Interlaken West at 7:34 to Spiez and connect to the EC train to Milano Centrale, arriving at 10:40 am. There are lots of later connections with more changes. Your STP will get you as far as Domodossola, Italy and you just have to pay for the section from there to Milan.

Chiasso is on a different route altogether that would require you to go to Luzern and Arth-Goldau to get to. Not the fastest or most direct way.

Edit. Sorry but when I tried to buy a ticket for that, SBB showed the EC train sold out for that date in 2nd class. You can leave at 9:34 with an additional connection at Domodossola, arriving at Milano Centrale at 14:35. Unfortunately there is a 1 3/4 hour change time at Domodossola. Time to grab some lunch nearby the station. Cost is 11 CHF with an STP.

Another way is to leave at 8:05 with connections at Spiez and Brig, and pay for an upgrade to 1st class for the train from Brig to Milano Centrale, arriving at 11:05. Cost is 42 CHF.

There are quire a few trains on the 7th for which you can get tickets. Just book Domodossola - Milano, and use the STP till Domodossola. If you plan it right you can just stay in the train. So book an EC train.
