Wondering how best to make travel arrangements for train from Zurich to Morel. Should we buy tickets at the station each time we transfer to another train. It seems very expensive to purchse tickets online before hand. We will be staying in Morel for a couple days hiking etc.

It is not that tedious. You just buy a ticket at Zurich, and it includes all the connections to Moerel. Switzerland is expensive. You will also need to buy tickets for the cable cars up into the mountains, although there may be a unified hiking ticket for the area. You could also perhaps get a Swiss Transfer Ticket which will cover you from Zurich Hbf (or airport) to Moerel and return. Or get Half Fare Cards. Details:
