Need Help with the RS Switzerland Tour!

Hi,
My wife and I are taking the RS Switzerland tour in July and I need to know if buying a Swiss Travel Pass is needed after the tour starts?

Are all the lifts and boat rides already included in the tour or would the Travel Pass be useful? We will be arriving 3 days early in Lucerne and getting a 3 day pass would make sense for those days but after the tour starts would having a pass be of any benefit other than getting from Bern to the Zurich airport on the last morning of the tour?

Donald,

Your best source of accurate answers to your questions would be to contact the RS tour department. A lot of your transportation will be covered but I'm not sure how much you'll save by having a Pass for the few trips you'll make on free afternoons or whatever.

I’m going on this tour in August and I decided that a Swiss travel pass would not make financial sense for me. Almost all of the transportation will be covered once the tour starts. The exceptions would be optional trips that you decide to take during free time on the tour. The most notable might be a trip up the Schilthorn in Mürren.

When I added up the cost of predicted trips on a point to point basis, it was still less expensive than a Swiss Travel Pass. ( I looked at cost for the train Zürich airport to Lucerne, a trip up Mt Pilatus pre tour, a possible trip up Schilthorn, and the train from Bern back to the airport). I would actually question whether the Swiss Pass was a good investment for your 3 days in Lucerne pre tour. What exactly are you planning to do those days?

Have a wonderful time !

When we did the RS Switzerland tour, we had the same questions, and decided the Half Price Pass would work best for us. We used it when we came in early [from Zurich] to Luzern [and went to Pilatus], to go up above the town to see the Matterhorn, and of course, in Murren. Safe travels!
