Need help with Bernese itinerary

Hey all, I am planning on spending 2-3 days in the Lauterbrunnen region in early June. I am trying to figure out an itinerary and have found several things I am interested in doing/seeing but am getting confused on how to get from one location to another with all the cable cars/funiculars/hiking, etc. Can someone help me figure out the best itinerary that includes the following? Also, bonus points if you can include a map of the region with these things marked because visuals really help me! Thanks!

  • panorama trail: männlichen-klein Scheidegg

  • murren to grimmelwald hike

  • Mürren Blumental “Flower Valley” Trail

  • murren-grutschalp hike

-Hiking behind staubach falls

  • trummelbach falls

  • blumental panorama trail: Allmendhubel funicular

Since we can’t post pictures, it’s a bit difficult to help with this. I would recommend the AllTrails app.

Be aware that some of these hikes may be closed in early June. We were there in late June last year and the Panorama trail had just opened due to snow. Just be flexible. Let weather guide what you do each day. We had some rain for 5 of 6 days in late June, so we went where the weather was best.

Download the SBB app and start getting familiar with it. It will tell you how to get places via train, bus or cable car.

This map was helpful for me to visualize where things are in the areas: https://www.berneseoberlandpass.ch/assets/Uploads/BOP_Panoramakarte_650x300mm_2024.pdf

Some of these are date dependent, as stated above

—panorama trail: männlichen-klein Scheidegg
Cable car to Mannlichen from Wengen will be Open, but Trail TBD because of snow

—murren to grimmelwald hike
The road from Murren to Gimmelwald is paved, so it will be fine. Do know that it’s 1,000 ft of downhill walking, so some prefer the cable car and saving their knees for a nature hike, instead of paved road.

—Mürren Blumental “Flower Valley” Trail
This starts up at the Allmendhubel funicular behind the restaurant. Opens June 8 and is a short family/kid trail. If you can do around 700 ft of elevation gain and your dates are after June 8, ride the Allmendhubel up from Murren and do the North Face Trail counterclockwise from Allmendhubel to Murren

—murren-grutschalp hike
This is also a paved road, so it will be open. It’s not as breathtaking as the North Face hike or Mannlichen Panorama Walk, so use it as an option lower on your list.

-Hiking behind staubach falls
I wouldn’t personally waste time doing this. Enjoy the falls from the ground and consider renting an ebike from Imboden in Lauterbrunnen town to bike the whole valley to see the various waterfalls. I think that’s more enjoyable than walking up behind those falls.

—trummelbach falls
This isn’t a hike. You can stop there on a bus or walk or bike as mentioned above, but once you get there you have to pay to ride the elevator up and it’s a very crowded place

If I had 2-3 days in the area, June 8 or after, staying in Murren I’d do something like this…

1 day - Murren > Allmendhubel > North Face Hike counterclockwise to Murren ending at Schilthornbahn > optional ride up to the Schilthorn for excellent expansive views > optional ride down to Gimmelwald or if you still want to walk, stop at Murren and walk down to Gimmelwald > cable car back up to Murren

1 day - Murren > Wengen > Mannlichen > Walk to Kleine Scheidegg > Train back to Wengen and head down to Lauterbrunnen where you can take a bus to Trummelbach Falls or if you started out early in the day, perhaps you’ll have more time to rent an ebike and bike The Valley/falls

1 additional day - If staying in Murren, you could ride the Allmendhubel again and do the Mountain View Trail that walks from Allmendhubel to Grutschalp and then optionally train back or walk back to Murren from there. Or if you’ve had enough walking, do a boat tour on Lake Brienz or Lake Thun.

This website has “picture maps” showing the topography, and photos of several of the hikes.

https://lauterbrunnenhiking.wordpress.com/lauterbrunnen-hiking/murren-hikes/

Grutschalp to Mürren is listed as “M1” on the maps. The “Flower Valley ” is part of the M2 hike. From the top of the Allmendhubel funicular, you head toward Schiltalp and drop into the Blumental (which means “flower valley”. Instead of continuing all the say to Schiltalp, simply turn at Sonnenberg or Suppenalp and follow one of the several trails or roads down through the wide valley. Just be aware that the term “flower valley” is something of a misnomer, as most of the time the cows have grazed the meadows and there are few if any flowers left.

However, there is a little botanical garden just past the playground at Allmendhubel, with a signed trail describing the plants and their medicinal or other uses.
