Need advice for Lake Luzern

Hello. We have two nights in Lucerne and my son will definitely want to see Mt. Pilatus. I figure we will be there several hours.
As the golden pass allows us to take a boat either to or from Alpnachstad, I am wondering if this 1 1/4 hour cruise on the lake is a decent lake trip. We could do a separate lake cruise the next morning if needed (probably a 2 hour cruise). We could also do a dinner cruise that evening-not sure about the quality of those either. Basically, we are more into playing on the mountains, but do want to take in some of the lake scenery ( I think an hour is sufficient for us, but I am not clear that this transportation-type cruise is also intended to be scenic or whether it is a nice boat).

Any advice from someone who has taken this particular boat trip?

Thanks
Jeremy

Your time spent on the lake while getting to/from Alpnachstad will be quite sufficient of a cruise. The lake is beautiful, but why would you want to spend more time on the lake than you've already done? You've only got 2 nights in Lucerne so spend your remaining time exploring the town.

amps,

I suppose whether the cruise to Alpnachstad is a "decent lake trip" is somewhat a matter of opinion. IMO it's a great trip and very scenic, and the boat "is" nice. This isn't the exact trip, but will give you an idea- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ko-L_zbzpTI .

The best adventure for your son will likely be the Funicular (one of the steepest in Europe) and if you're returning to Lucerne via Kriens, the cable car ride will be spectacular.
