Need A/C in June?

I'm looking at spending 2 nights in Montreux in June 2027 to recover from jet lag, walk the promenade (see Freddie!), and go to Castle Chillon. I'm looking to spend under $250/night for two adults sharing a bed. I see the Splendid and the Hotel Eden, but am wondering if I'll be sorry not to have A/C even if I have a lake view room with windows? In my experience, open windows mean lots of noise? Even with open windows, might we roast?

I was in Switzerland this June during the heat wave and temperatures reaching the high 90's. I wouldn't think of reserving a room without air conditioning!

Your hotel might already have a fan in the room, or perhaps you could request one - a floor or table model. It’s not A/C, but having some air movement on you could make a difference, especially if it’s a better option than an open window.

Thanks Carol and Cyn,

I suppose this is life now. Rooms on a lake did not used to need A/C. Unfortunately, I'm thinking we will need to find a hotel with A/C in Montreux for June 2027 or we may not be resting, but roasting.

Another vote for AC in June in Montreux. We were there about 2 weeks ago and Montreux was hot. We did enjoy the walk from Chateau Chillon back to Montreux along the lake, but we were doing it before noon.

Not sure about your area, but in many places open windows bring on the mosquitos. I vote for the AC. Have a great trip!

Thanks for reminding me about mosquitos! We're looking at 3 nights in Montreux. I have my eye on an Airbnb with a view of the lake. There isn't any A/C, but there's a lovely terrace and fans. I'd imagined sleeping with windows open. No mention of mosquitos in the many glowing reviews....
