I am considering taking the My Way Alpine 12 day tour with my husband and 8 year old daughter, in Summer 2016. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this age and this tour? Are there many families with kids? It would be nice for our daughter to meet a buddy to hang out with. I would hate for her to be the only child on the tour.
Does anyone have any other recommendations about this tour? What about pre and post RS tour? Are there any recommendations on what to do prior to starting in Salzburg and when the tour ends in Geneva? (If we want to add a couple of extra days on our own.)
The summer departure dates definitely attract more families, so I think your odds are good not to be the only one. The tour department can help you identify how many other children are already signed up, if you want to enquire about a couple of specific dates.
From Chamonix to Geneva, you can book a direct, two-hour shuttle bus ride. Or, you can take trains back through Switzerland, along Lake Geneva, with connections at Vallorcine and Martigny (travel time 3.5 hours). You could sleep mid-way in and explore Lausanne, Montreux, Chateau de Chillon, Gruyeres. You can take boats on that part of the lake or all the way to Geneva.
