We are signed up for the My Way Alpine Tour in August. We live in Washington and hike our mountains on day trips mostly. We usually wear high quality hiking shoes ( below the ankle). For those of you who have done this tour, will we be ok with the same day hike shoe for most of the trails? Thanks
Unless you are doing the more difficult trails, they are okay. Hiking poles will be useful.
Just a reminder that hiking poles need to go in checked luggage and are not a carry on item.
I wore my Keen Newport hiking sandals.
We hike in Switzerland and the Dolomites every year and always wear low hiking shoes as you apparently do at home. You will appreciate the good tread. We eschewed trekked nag poles for years but now rely on them and believe it is worth checking a bag in order to take our folding poles along (Foldable is ideal as they will fit in a day pack when you are out and about on your trip.) If you do not want to take your own, though, you can usually buy a pair of cheap ones for about £30 that should be sufficient for the trip. Then “donate” them to the hotel at your last stop.
We did the tour in Sept of 2015 and I just wore regular running shoes. We didn't do the difficult hikes and we had good weather. Really loved this tour!
Thank you, everyone, for your input. Some good things to think about.
