must to visit in interlaken

Hi

I wanted to visit Top of Europe but it's so expensive :-( Is it really worth it?

Also, what other places do we must see in Interlaken? we have 3 days.

Thanks
Susan

It is worth it, but only on a clear day. If you have a Berner Oberland pass, you can go to many places with spectacular views, all included with the pass: Almendhubel, Mannlichen, Kleine Scheidigg, Eigergleitscher, Eiger Express, First, Schynigge Platte.

Interlaken itself does not have much to see. It is a transportation hub. You’ll want to get UP into the mountains for the amazing views.

Interlaken is a good lodging location with many options and several good restaurants. You see mountains up in the sky (preview for the day). The highlights to see in Interlaken for me were Harder Klum and swimming in the Aare river. A 3 day trip is short. I feel the previous reply had options that I would choose over a day in Interlaken.

You have to realise that "Top of Europe" is not in Interlaken. In fact, there is very little of interrest in Interlaken. The interesting things are all outside of Interlaken.

The reason that the Jungfraujoch is so expensive is that most people visiting it have a discount card. So the Jungfrau Railway have set the normal price such that the discounted (half fare) price is what they actually want to get.

Chat GPT is apparently unaware that the Schynige Platte is closed for the season beginning Oct 21. I think that’s a bit of a snooze fest myself as it is a long, slow train ride that is fun on the way up and a please-get-it-over ride on the way back. Instead, stay in the Lauterbrunnen area and ride up to Mürren on the cabe way at Stechelberg and enjoy this car free village, perhaps walking down to Gimmelwald on the paved road between the two, before you return to I/L. You could also visit the Schilthorn from Mürren, a mountain top view point that costs a bit less than the Jungfraujoch.

Did you get the Half Fare Card?

Also, I would research restaurants on my own, not use an AI that has not eaten at any of them.

Oh my goodness. People actually are using ChatGPT to make trip plans for them?

That plan is crazy. It crams to much in, and seems unaware of the existence of seasons, or even weather. Or schedules...

Today we did exactly what Laurel suggested, from where we are staying in Wengen

We went up to Mürren via Grutschalp, onto Schilthorn, back to Mürren for lunch, walked down to Gimmelwald for drinks and returned to Wengen visa Stechelberg and Lauterbrunnen.

A fantastic day.

susan,

That Itinerary looks far too "busy", IMO. I prefer to prepare things like that on my own, as AI has no idea of the way I like to travel or which sites are of most interest to me. If you do decide to visit the Jungfraujoch, it's at an altitude of just under 12,000 feet so if you have any problems with altitude, you may wish to have a chat with your family doctor.

Thank you.. I wasn't going to rely on this schedules as I don't want to be so busy each locations.. I thought it was just cool to know how it shows and even getting the prices, and locations in one place.

I am slowly getting the whole itinerary.. although a part of me is like 'let's wing it when we get there!' haha

The fares shown on the SBB website assume you have a Half Fare Card. Double them if you will not. I wonder whether your AI source mentions that.

AI or your thinking today at home have no idea how long you will want to take for an attraction or hike. I have had luck several times with the approach of selecting a "must see" activity for each day. Then I have a list of add-on or backup activities to do as time permits or fits better for the weather of the day. It is like structured winging-it.
