I wanted to stay in Murren as a first time visitor May 11-16, but I am thinking of changing my reservations to Wengen. I am concerned that it may be a little early in the season for Murren. Most of the recommended hikes and lifts to get there will be closed and it will take extra time going up and down the valley on the bus to go to other places. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

We stayed in Wengen about the same time last year and it was lovely. I do think the train between Wengen and Lauterbrunnen is more convenient than the bus/cable car or cable car/train combo required for Mürren. Some very nice walks from Wengen as well. Note the lift to Männlichen isn’t open for your time but you can still take the train tpmKleime Scheidegg.

The cable car/train via Grutschalp to Murren will be closed for your dates this year as they put the new train cars in. The only way to get to Murren May 6-31, 2024 is via bus to Stechelberg and then cable cars to Gimmelwald and then up to Murren.
