Murren in November?

Yes, I know a lot of places are closed. But I love Murren for the views and to use as a break to "rest" from the vacation itself. I can stay in Lauterbrunnen, if necessary.

That being said, am I correct in assuming that there won't be any hiking during that time, because snow will already be accumulating? I was there last, in early October, but we still had great hiking. This trip will be late November, around Thanksgiving.

Has anyone been there that time of year? And I also don't want to ski...just relax.

Thanks for your input!

Since you've been there previously you already know that the weather is unpredictable. I think November is too early to say that there will "definitely" be snow. Rather you should assume there "may" be snow.

But I agree totally - I would go to Murren any chance I had! Who cares if "most" places are closed. I don't go there for the shopping. The Coop will still be open and there will still be restaurants serving and best of all the stunning alps will still be standing!

The presence of snow at that time isn't predictable year to year. But what is predictable- it's usually very foggy and damp, and most of the businesses close in preparation for the upcoming ski season. The change over in weather usually begins in mid to late October, when the atmosphere usually starts to become much more damp.

PS- Yes, I was in the region very briefly during November once. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit during that time.

There are 2 routes up to Murren and they both will not be closed at the same time.
