What are some good hotels in Murren near the train station and coop with fantastic views? Thanks!
The train station and Coop in Murren aren't adjacent. The Coop is in the center of this charming car-free village. The train station is at the far end. Use booking, com for your research, and come back when you've found some that you like, and get feedback. You don't mention time of year, price, or group size. Book direct to get the best price.
Enjoy this little piece of heaven!
Ditto what Pat said. The train station and the Coopmare at opposite ends of the village, so you cannot be close to both.
If you would like to be close to the train station for convenience, take a look at Hotel Eiger. We have not stayed there, but we enjoyed their friendly little bar on two evening last summer (before cooking dinner in our apartment). The restaurant terrace was packed with people who looked very happy.
I believe Rick recommends the adjacent Eiger Guesthouse, which is less expensive, in his guidebook (or at least he did the last time I looked at one). But after watching a manager there treat a couple of arriving guests so rudely when they asked to enter the premises, I would not want to book there.
At the other end of the village, closer to the Coop, I suggest you stay on the upper road, further from the lift station where there is apparently some construction noise. There are two hotels up there, both with views I like very much (the apartment we like is right up there too). The Drei Berge is the former Hotel Bellevue under new ownership. We enjoyed dining at the Bellevue, but have no experience with the new management. Hotel Jungfrau is less expensive and maybe simpler. Friends stayed there and said it was fine, but that isn’t much to go on.
I believe some people here like Hotel Alpina, right on the edge of the cliff, in between the train and the Coop. It is another RS recommendation. But again, I canno speak from any personal experience with the hotel.
I’ve stayed at Hotel Eiger twice. It’s right by the train station, but we did not hear any noise. Service is good and breakfast is excellent. The views are to die for. If I ever get back to Murren, I would stay there again.
