I usually go to Berner Oberland every year
Last year was my first time in June , 22-29, perfect weather everyday.
Normally, I go first week of September & also perfect !
A friend wants to go with me next June & her only availability is first week of June
A little anxious about the weather … would really appreciate feedback about early June
I would be in Wengen,Murren,etc
Thanks !
Weather is more unpredictable than ever, but I will share that we spent 11 nights in mid-to-late May in 2023 and it was marvelous. Lots of snow on the peaks, not as crowded as September when we are often there.
You should be fine in terms of weather. Just note that some higher alpine trails & a few scenic train rides/attractions may not be open yet (i.e. Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg walk, Schynige Platte train) but I think enough will be available for you to enjoy your time. If it is a matter of going then or not at all, I wouldn't hesitate!
We were in Murren in late May this year and the weather was quite warm. I never wore my jacket or any long sleeved items. There was no snow, or rain! I expected cool/cold weather and rain!
We were there late June a few years ago. The town and valley below were nice - short sleeves in day and light sweater at night. But there is still a lot of snow at the peaks. We wanted to hike down from Schilthorn, but it was still snowed in. Instead we got off at Birg and hiked down from there. There was still crusty snow for the first 500m or so but then it cleared up and we hiked the whole way down in comfort.
