Multi-country train travel passes

Hello, In Aug-Sept, we are travelling by train From Germany thru Switzerland and ending in France. I thought that Eurail was the way to go plus either the Jungfrau Travel Pass or the Bernese Oberland Travel Pass for our time in Lucerne and Lauterbrunnen. I know there are several factors to consider such as exactly what we want to do but in general, does this sound right? The Eurail Pass saves us a lot of money for all of our city to city travel but I am not sure what site to purchase tickets from.

Where are you going in Germany? May be better options with regional trains if you are not traveling long distances between locations. Long distance trains in France reuire reservation fees with a Eurail pass.

Do you mean Strasbourg rather than Salzburg?

You only have 2 long trips, Munich to Zurich and Strasbourg to Paris. You should buy these now to get big discounts with nonrefundable tickets. Think of them as airline tickets.

Right now, you can get 2 tickets from Munich to Zurich for 80 EUR total. Strasbourg to Paris for as low as 38 EUR for 2.
Get Half Fare Cards in Switzerland. They will pay for themselves when you buy 6-day Berner Oberland Pass.

Basel to Colmar and Colmar to Strasbourg are cheap TER tickets. Prices are like 16 and 14 EUR per person respectively.

You only need to spend time on one website to research train travel in Europe - the Man in Seat 61. Eurail is never the way to go, especially with an itinerary like yours.
