Hi, we are going to Switzerland in late August (arriving the 20th). We would like to spend a few days in Muerren but are concerned that it might be overrun with tourists. Does anyone know?
Also, do you have suggestions for beautiful Alpine villages and small towns that are less crowded? We are into scenery, gentle hiking, relaxing. Thanks!
Yes August is peak season in Europe. However Murren is a vgd place to stay. Get your reservations ASAP. It is a beautiful village with unbelievable views as it perched abv the valley.
Light hiking easilydone. I have visited many villages and Murren is one of my favorites.
I've been to Murren more times than I can count (which is a good thing) and I have NEVER seen it overrun with tourists.
Oh thank you, it's so good to hear this. I really want to go there and this is the only time that works for us.
Then by all means go. It's probably one of the most beautiful places in the world. It won't be overrun.
Thanks for your encouragement, we just booked our hotel. Can't wait!
