Mt titilis and mt pilatus

Hi! We are going to Lucerne for 3 days at the end of this week. We would like to visit mt titilis, mt. Pilatus and then spend a day in he city of Lucerne. How should we get to mt. Titilis and mt. Pilatus? Where should we get tickets? What is he best way to see these areas and what else should we do around here? We have already booked our hotel and are stopping in Interlaken for 2 days before heading into Italy. I iknow the weather shows rain so I may need to have a backup if I can't visit these mountains. Thanks for your help.

For Titlis, just take a train from Luzern station (Luzern is the local spelling) to Engelberg. From Engelberg station it is a 15 minute walk or a bus to the bottom of the Titlis cable car. You then go up in a series of 3 cable cars to the summit. Just go into the Travel Centre at Luzern station, which is in the basement below ground level, and explain where you want to go, and they can fix you up with the correct tickets.

For Pilatus, they do a lovely round trip where you take a boat round to the back side of the mountain, and up the cog wheel railway to the summit. You then come down in a cable car on the Luzern side, and take a local bus back to the station. The lake boats dock at the quayside in front of the station, there is an info office there and you can just go in and ask, They speak English.

A back up plan if the mountain tops are covered in cloud (and we have been having some very wet weather recently) is to go on a trip on one of the lake steamers. Or just wander around Luzern, it is a lovely town.

If you have any more questions please ask.

Here's the website for the cog railway and gondola. There's also information on how to travel by public transportation. If you are fogged in (or out) and don't ascend the mountain, Luzern has a great transportation museum. It's one of my favorite European cities in which to just wander about.

I've not visited Mt. Titilis but here's a link to its website.
