Mt. Pilatus/Lucerne

Quick question:

Does the Swiss Travel Pass cover the 72CHF cost of the trip up Mt. Pilatus (Cog Train and Gondola/Cable Car)? If I'm reading Rick correctly, it looks like it does...however I could not confirm this on their website.

I'm still trying to decide if the Swiss Travel Pass is worth it for our trip or not...

Thanks!
Ashley

No, that changed again on January 1. Our online info is most current and reflects this policy: Mt. Pilatus: Lifts and trains are covered up to Kriens/Alpnachstad, then 50 percent off above Kriens/Alpnachstad. (Lake boats or Luzern museums and local transport that you might do on the same day are also covered.)

Thank you so much! That helps and makes sense to what I was finding on line.

In its place the STP now covers the entire trip from Murren to the Schilthorn at 100%. I'm guessing there's going to be increased traffic on that route now.

Ashley,

On that trip, you might consider travel to Mt. Pilatus via Alpnachstad and the Funicular, and back to Lucerne via the cable cars down to Kriens. You can connect with the Bus in Kriens (slight downhill walk required), and the ride back to the station in Lucerne is only about 15 minutes.

Thanks all!! Yes, we are planning one going up one way and down another but we wanted to stop and do the luge track as well. I know Rick recommends doing that first, but is that just because of the lines? I would like to do the cog wheel train first as he also states that’s the most dramatic direction.

And I did not know the Swiss Travel Pass covers to the top of the Schilthorn! That’s fantastic news and allows us to go up at different times of the day to different photo opportunities! Thanks!!
