mountains in switzerland morning or afternoon?

mountains in switzerland morning or afternoon?

Planning to combine half day mountains and half day city tours / boat tours or scenic train rides as combo almost everyday in May 2019. Thinking, whether first to do city tours or fist to do mountain tours?

Points of interest with Tell pass: Mt. Pilatus, Mt. Tiltis, Stoos, Mt. Rigi etc combining with one of these: Lucerne city tours, Golden pass to Interlaken, Gotthard Panorama express, Stanserhorn etc.

Thanks a bunch.

It will be good to be flexible and take it day to day when you are there next May but our experience in the high Alps has been that if you can see peeks in the morning take advantage of it because clouds can come swirling in around them by mid day and totally obscure the mountain tops.

Exactly what I was going to say, but Mona beat me to it. Morning.

In general, for most mountainous areas, mornings tend to be more clear than afternoons. However, you never really know what weather systems will do. When I was in Luzern, we got up one morning to thick clouds so we decided to do a walking tour of the town. When we got across town, we noticed it was clearing over Rigi. So we hightailed it across town to take the boat across the lake to the cog train. We were happy we did, the trip and the views were quite spectacular. Additionally, it can be cloudy over one mountain and clear around another so I would say keep your eyes on the sky.

check the screens before you leave the room and expect mornings clearer.

In a month you aren't visiting the Lauterbrunnen Valley? Don't turn around when you get to Interlaken.

It does not always follow this pattern but more often the early mornings are clearer than the late afternoons in the mountains.
