Mount Pilatus

We are staying near Zurich and would like to take a daytrip up Mount Pilatus. We are travelling with two 7 year olds and will be there in June. We will have a car and would like to go up the mountain one way (either cog railway or gondola) and come back down the other way. Trying to figure out the logistics of parking the car at either station (railway or gondola) and being able to get back to the car when we come down the opposite way. If we take a boat back to the car, can we walk to the boat dock from the station and/or car park? Or is it better (or even possible) to take a train in between stations and car park? Any advice is appreciated!

In Switzerland it's just best to not have the burden of a rental car. Rely on the wonderful public transport that will take you anywhere you want to go at precisely the time specified. Your 2 children will travel free with you.

We parked the car in Lucerne and took the boat to the Cog Rail and c ame back to Lucerne by Gondola, that way you come back to your car.
