I have read much of Rick Steve's book/website which is wonderful. I know we can't do it all and want to be sure we take time to enjoy a mix the abundant offerings without exhaustion, so am trying to plan a few nights in several locations. Any advice would be amazing - thank you,
I am excited to share this beautiful country with my daughters. We'll be going June 2-11 of 2027, so with two travel days we have 8 days to enjoy the country. Landing in Zurich staying one night to rest, head to Lucerne for 3 nights, through Interlaken, but overnights in Lauterbrunner valley and day trips to Gimmaweld and Murren. From there, travel to Bern one night and one day to explore but then based on what I've read in this forum, travel back to Zurich and get a hotel close to the airport. Last day fly back home.
Every time I put this itinerary together, I extend hotel stays to reduce one night stays. I want to be sure we see many of the highlights, but give ourselves time to enjoy wandering and impromptu times together. Looking for a good combo of the gorgeous mountain views, some moderate hiking, city time, people watching and good food.
So looking for thoughts on whether it is doable and we will be able to enjoy much of the beauty of Switzerland. Thanks so much for any guidance you might provide.
