Most scenic route from chur to interlaken?

Hello all, we are planning a trip for next spring, and will be taking the Bernina Express from Italy and spending the night in Chur. We do want to take the glacier express the next day, but need a stopping point before taking the scenic route to Interlaken area the next day.

In the past we stayed in Zermatt but we won’t be doing that this time. Should we stay in Brig or is there another stopping point that would be better?

Also, how is the weather in Switzerland in May? I’ve read mixed reports..... thank you!

I don't think you need a stopover between Chur and Interlaken; using the Glacier Express route, it takes about 6 hours to reach Interlaken, or 7 hr 15 min if you really want to maximize scenery and take the old Lötschberg Railway from Brig to Spiez instead of the base tunnel. But I would just take the base tunnel, as you'll have seen a lot of scenic railways by then.

If you do want a stopover, I highly suggest Bettmeralp. Make your way to the station "Betten" (the Glacier Express passes through but I do not think that it stops, so you might need to change trains somewhere), take cable car 1,000 metres up to a plateau, enjoy a lovely car-free setting and keep going up to see the incredible Aletsch Glacier landscape.
