Morges Tulip Festival

I am at the beginning of planning 7 days in Switzerland after getting off Rhine River Cruise that drops us off in Basel. Was going to spend a few hours there and then board a train for Morges. Has anyone been there and experienced the Tulip Festival? Is it worth to spend two days there. We will be there the first week of May 2024. Grateful for any suggestions. Thank you.

I have been to the Morges Tulip Festival several times. I think that it is worth a visit and I have gotten some wonderful photographs there! It isn’t big enough to spend two days, but there are a lot of other things to see in the area that can make a two day stay worthwhile.

Morges is a charming little town and part of what makes the Tulip Festival there so lovely is the setting. There are flower beds all along the lake promenade, and various trees are usually blooming as well, such as magnolia and cherry.
The Tulip Festival is held at the Parc de l'Indépendance which you can look up on Google maps to see the size of it.

An absolutely fantastic experience is to hike through the flowering narcissus fields above Montreux. Last year I went on May 16th, so it will be worth checking out to see if they are blooming when you go there. You can find a blooming tracker here to see the status of the flowers:

I personally would not stay in Morges for the night. I would book a hotel in Montreux and travel to Morges for the festival. I love the Tulip festival but Lac Léman (as we Swiss officially name Lake Geneva) offers much more than just that.

You’re welcome hawaiiicee808

I have only visited this area during day trips from my home in Thun, so I don’t know what it would be like to stay here. My impression from walking around Morges is that it has a fairly quiet, small town feel to it.

rolandp954 suggests Montreux, which is of course another wonderful location. A larger city with much more happening. It is very easy to travel along Lac Léman to the different towns and cities by train from whatever base you choose.
