Montreux- Trips to

Hello ,
When flied to Geneva, I choose Montreux for a base for 2 days. (I saw many recommendations about there) .If you have another recommendation Its ok for me..I like small ,more traditional and picturesque towns, villages.
Later heading to Obwalden area .This is my second Switzerland visit but before I have not been to west part of the country .

After exploring Montreux and Vevey , I am planning to see Gruyeres for only to see village (will probably not spend time cheese and chocolate factories) I would like to see natural beauties and cute, picturesque ,green villages to walk .

Could you recommend such villages please near Montreux ? I saw Zweisimmen/Simmental but seems a bit far .
Thanks a lot

What’s beautiful about the Montreux and Vevey area are the hillside vineyards, where you can enjoy a walk, the lakeside promenade, and the option to take a boat ride on the lake. For hiking, you could head up to higher elevations like Les Avants. There are also many wonderful museums to explore, and you can visit the Château de Chillon.

Gruyères, on the other hand, is surrounded by green pastures, similar to the villages in Obwalden, but Montreux and Vevey have a different landscape. With only two days to spend here, you might have enough to do already with these three locations. You will certainly have a lot of picturesque green villages in Obwalden!

If you have time while you are staying in Montreux, I highly recommend a quick train ride to St. Saphorin to explore the cute village and then you can walk up in the vineyards. The couple of times that I have been there, I seemed to be the only tourist walking around.

You could combine a visit to St. Saphorin with a visit to Lutry.

I really enjoy the walk along the lake from Montreux to Chillon Castle. Or as mentioned above, you could take a boat ride. I love the boat rides. You could take the boat to the castle, and then walk back to Montreux. Or you could take a longer boat ride from Montreux to Lausanne. I wasn’t a big fan of Lausanne, but did really enjoy the boat ride.

I was not a big fan of Gruyeres, but I did enjoy the scenery from the train to and from.

So many great choices. Have a great trip!!
