I am planning our itinerary for our 3 days in Switzerland for our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children 9-14) and wondering if it would be too rushed for our first day if we took the train from Basel to Montreux, had a picnic lunch in Montreux and a stop in a cafe, then took the train to Broc for the Cailler tour, train to gruyeres where we are staying for the night? My question is if the scenery from montreux to Broc is that spectacular we should make a point of doing it, or just take the train directly from Basel to Broc-Fabrique. We have Swiss rail passes so there is no extra expense. We head from gruyeres to interlaken so will see more great scenery I'm sure, but would love to hear opinions of others...thanks!

While you are in Montreux, be sure to visit Chateau Chillon. It's a fantastic medieval castle right on the lake. The kids will go nuts.
