Montreux / Lausanne Hotel - Itinerary

Hi! We be ending our honeymoon during the end of April in the Montreux / Lausanne area and are looking for a hotel you would recommend. We plan on doing a Chocolate/Cheese Factory tour one day, doing some winery / Lavaux vineyard tours and then final day doing a watch making tour and heading over to Geneva. We then fly out of Geneva.

Any recommendations on where to stay for the above itinerary? We were planning on the Fairmont in Montreux but they have a conference that weekend and are sold out :(

Thanks so much in advance for you help!!

I would stay in Vevey, closer to the vineyards, and more charming than Montreux, which I find a bit "dated" overall. Can't recommend a hotel there, though.

Your price range?

We're staying at The Lausanne Palace later this year as part of a tour. Not cheap but highly rated. Looking forward to a lake view room.

Jenny - There are two hotels in the center of town that will be convenient for you. They are both close to public transport. Take a look and see if it's a match for you.

Then you might look into the Lausanne Palace. I did a check through their website and a weeknight in April lakeview room was $432 in advance.

We stayed at the Beau-Rivage Palace at Port D'Ouchy in Lausanne and loved it. I am not sure what the rates are for April. Chateau D'Ouchy would be another option in Lausanne with views of Lake Geneva. In Vevey the Grand Hotel du Lac looks nice. I signed up for a chocolate making class at Laderach Chocolatier Suisse in Vevey which was very enjoyable. The Lavaux vineyards offer spectacular views of the lake and mountains. I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Grand Hotel de Lac is solid, I had a few drinks there and I’m sure dinner would have been good. I stayed down the road at Hostellerie de Geneve and thought it was great for the location and price, highly recommend. It’s probably not as fancy as de Lac and you might want that this time around: understood. But HdG was a solid room and value and you can then spend more money on shipping wine home.

I'm guessing this trip may be canceled by now, however, if not......

I'd go with Vevey (as an earlier poster recommended)....and since it is a very special occasion, the 5-Star, historic 'Hotel des Trois Couronnes & Spa'.

Suite with Lake View/Balcony about $500 (I checked) or Junior Suite for less.....

FIRST CLASS!!!
