Hi I am in Florence and want to have a couple of days in Switzerland before heading to Paris has anyone ideas how to go about this as cheaply as possible yet maximizing the time spent seeing the swiss scenery? I can get no help from people at the train stations here. I believe it would be better to be in Milan and maybe I should look at staying a night there and finding out more.
Help would be appreciated as I am TRAVELLING alone and do not speak Italian.
I have to catch a train in Pris Charles De Gaulle on the 29th June
Perhaps your destination is the Interlaken area, or Luzern? You should buy train tickets soon for the international legs, since they can sell out, for instance for the TGV train from Basel to Paris and for the starting route, such as Florence-Milan-Spiez. You don't need to stay over in Milan. Buying tickets on short notice is not cheap; you'll probably pay full-fare. Scenery from the train is good by any route. The Florence station can sell tickets, but wants you to just tell them dates and times. Get train schedules online and either print the ones you want or copy them to take to the station. Connecting legs within Switzerland don't need reservations, so you can buy them as you go, or even buy a Swiss Pass at a Swiss train station.
