We land in Milan in the Am on a Thursday in August. We have to be at Zurich airport on Monday by 11:30am, for a 10 day train trip through Switzerland but doesn't go to Murren and that area. It looks complicated and maybe not enough time , what do you think? Should we go to Bern and Zurich instead?
What surprises me is a 10 day train trip that doesn't include the area around Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Wengen.
But yes, Murren is most definitely worth it. From Milan just get on the train to Interlaken Ost, Lauterbrunnen, Murren and spend 3 nights there. You might want to spend Sunday night in Lucerne or Zurich old city.
What kind of 10 day Swiss train tour begins at Zurich AIrport? More than likely if the group departs Zurich Airport they're going to make at stop at Zurich Main Station where you could just join the group from there instead of going to the airport.
Where should we stay in Zurich, a 3 star hotel is fine!
In Zurich we alwYs stay at the Hotel St Josef. It’s in a quiet area very near to the train station. You can either walk or jump in a taxi which should take about 5 minutes to drive but might be worth it if you don’t want to drag your luggage.
There are other hotels closer including the very nice Hotel Schweizerhof just across the street from the station.
Is this one of the "Grand Train Tours of Switzerland" package tours? Let us know which one it is. It sounds like it starts assuming you will be arriving on a flight from Zurich Airport, but you could probably meet the tour at the hotel in Zurich. and most of them spend at least 2 nights in the Berner Oberland area. Tell us which tour and we'll check the itinerary and maybe be able to suggest something that does not duplicate what you will be doing on the tour.
OP said it didn’t go to Murren or that “area”.
