Milan to Lausanne

Hello,
I am traveling from Milan to Lausanne in March. I will be using a Swiss Travel Pass Flex. I see in the timetable that there is an EC train from Milan to Lausanne, but it requires a reservation. I can't figure out how to make a reservation online. The SBB website does not give me the option for that trip. I am curious if this is because the trip crosses an international boundary. Please advise on how to make a reservation for the journey.

Thanks!

A train from Italy to Switzerland only requires a reservation for the portion of the trip in Italy (Milan to Domodossola). However your Swiss pass is ONLY valid in Switzerland (Domodossola to Lausanne). You will need to buy a ticket for the portion of the trip from Milan to Domodossola, this ticket will include your reserved seat.
So it is not "because the trip crosses an international boundary", it is because part of the trip is in Italy and you only have a ticket for Switzerland.

You can do this on the Italian railways website: https://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en
