Milan to Interlaken using Berner Oberland Pass in June

Hello.
How do we get from Milano Centrale to Interlaken using the Berner Oberland pass in late June. I heard there will be construction work around that time and I am so confused on how to do this route using the BO pass. We will also have the Half Fare Card. Is it possible to buy tickets in SBB app for this route? Thank you so much in advance.

Unless it’s changed the BO pass only covers you in the BO - to Domodossola. So when I did this last summer (opposite way) I needed a paid ticket from Domodossola to Milano centrale which included a bus due to construction. You buy it on the official italian railway site.

Note that the BO Pass is only valid on the RE1 from Brig to Spiez, not the EC trains, or any trains using the Loetschberg Base Tunnel. It will take a little longer to get to Spiez, but it is much more scenic. What is your exact travel date?

The 2026 BO Pass validity map shows it is no longer valid from Domodossola, So use your HFC for travel between Domodossola and Brig. You can still board the RE1 at Domodossola, but you need a ticket to Brig, after which just remain on the train to Spiez. You can buy that with the SBB app.

I do see construction on the line between Milan and Domodossola. Buy a ticket from Trenitalia for 16 EUR pp. There is a replacement bus at 7 am from Milano Centrale that gets to Domodossola at 9:20 am, then get the RE1 to Spiez at 9:58. That will get you to Interlaken Ost at 12:26 pm after a train change at Spiez.

Yes, I was actually checking for June 25. No change in the schedule.

The RE1 goes from Domodossola at 58 past the odd hours (7:58, 9:58, etc) except that there is no 11:58 train, so the next train is at 13:58. You would have to leave Milan at 9:25 and be waiting in Domodossola for 2 hours for that 13:58 train. The next departure is the 12:00 replacement bus, leaving a 1 1/2 hour wait for the 15:58 train. It is 2 1/2 hours from the Domodossola to Interlaken Ost, so I think you can see that the 7 am departure from Milan is the most efficient time to go.

The Berner Oberland pass is no longer valid on Domodossola - Brig. It is still valid on Brig - Spiez via the mountain route (put in Kanderstag as a via when planning on www.sbb.ch).

There are indeed going to be engineering works on that line, and so there are no through trains, and substitute buses. It appears that the replacement schedule has not been communicated to SBB yet, as they send you via the Gotthard. You can find it on www.trenord.it though.

And go via the Gotthard is what I would do. Just buy a ticket Milano Luzern, and change to the Luzern - Interlaken train there. The BO pass covers Luzern Interlaken, and on Milano - Luzern you will get a reduction with your HFC. Better than suffering through Italian rail replacement buses.

Thank you so much. I just realized that my daughter gets motion sickness riding the bus so taking train will be better for us.

Going via Luzern will be about the same travel time as using the substitute bus to Domodossola. Plus the Luzern - Interlaken route is very scenic. So just relax, sit back and enjoy.

I would leave Milano on the 8:10 EC, and change in Arth Goldau to the VoralpenExpress,. which has a scenic run along lake Luzern.
