Milan to Geneva

I have just started to think about seeing the Matterhorn but thought I would fly into Milan first and work my way to the Matterhorn. Has anyone does this route before.

do you want this first train from Milan to Geneva or to Zermatt? In other words, Milan > Geneva > Zermatt, or Milan > Zermatt > Geneva? Do you want to get to Geneva and set put to Zermatt from there?

Neither way is exactly a straight line...

Thank you for your input. I am not sure at this point just what I want as I have just started to explore different options. Thanks again.

I am sure many people have done it.

Milan—-Zermatt—-Geneva makes the most sense to me. From
Milano Centrale to Zermatt is an easy journey of 3.5 hours, with a single change at Visp if you choose the right departure at Milan. That would be the IC trains departing at 8:20, 11:20, 0r 13:20. There are other possibilities with an additional change for Brig to Visp.

Zermatt to Geneva is also a journey of 3.5 hours with a single change (again at Visp) if you choose the right departure.

This assumes you wish to go straight from on to the other. There are stops along the way that are possible without a detour from the main route, such as Stresa on Lago Maggiore between Milan and Visp. Between Visp and Geneva there are many possibilities, including Sion, Aigle, Montreux, and Vevey.
