milan > lauterbrennun> lucerne travel pass

Please help. I am so confused on the swiss travel pass. A lot of choices and yet am not sure if it will help save $ for our group of 6 adults (3 couples) and 4 young adults ( 18-21y/o).From Milan we will take the train ( no tickets yet) to Lauterbrennun staying there for 2 nights/3days, taking train to Lucerne for another 2 nights/3days before going to Paris by train. Not sure what to get between Regional pass vs swiss travel pass. Appreciate your input. Thanks so much.

I will let others discuss the price points, I would like to help you understand how much time you actually have.

You can't claim 3 days in two adjacent 2 night stands. It is really more like one whole day in each.

Milan to Lauterbrunnen is at least a 4 hour journey by train. If you leave Milan after breakfast you will get to Lauterbrunnen after lunch, which you will want on arrival or as you pass through Interlaken Ost. By the time you are checked in on Lauterbrunnen day one it is mid afternoon, leaving you just a few hours that day to do stuff.

The next day (between the two nights in Lauterbrunnen is all yours. Then some time after breakfast you will up stakes again for the journey to Luzern (local spelling). That journey is only a couple of hours so getting lunch at lunch time should be OK. Then afternoon and evening. So one whole day then in Luzern and off again to Paris the next morning (another long journey).

Do you see why I say 2, 2 nights stays is only 2 whole days?

You need to hope that the mountain weather cooperates on such short stays. If you have fog or rain on your one whole day in a place there go your plans for the Schilthorn or Jungfraujoch.
